Frequently Asked Questions
Q: I've heard that there is a series finale that has been taped that would 'tie up loose ends.' When will this be aired? Why can't NBC give us one more hour of our favorite show? A: The 'wrap up' was a 12 minute scene that was filmed at the last minute in case of cancellation. NBC was originally supposed to air it at the end of the season finale, once they decided to cancel it. That did not happen. However, if/when Season 3 is released on DVD, the 12 minute scene would be included.
Q: I've heard that the delay in releasing Seasons 2 and 3 is due to negotiations for music rights. Also, people think that the most high profile songs and best musical moments of the show will be replaced with "cheaper" songs. Is this true? A: This is straight from executive producer/creator Jonathan Prince regarding delay because of music rights: "No. That's not it at all." Regarding the high profile songs being replaced: "One need only see what we did on the first season to see how we handled that issue." Also, please refer to this article regarding the replacement of songs on the Season 1 DVDs: http://www.wired.com/entertainment/music/news/2005/03/66696?currentPage=all
Q: Are there any plans to release Seasons 2 and 3 on DVD in the near future? A: Unfortunately, no. However, I am starting a new campaign to show NBC that there is a HUGE amount of interest in these Season DVD sets. I get at least 3-4 emails per day asking about the DVDs, I know thousands of people would buy them. We just have to make our voices heard. Go to my new page to see what you can do to have S2 and S3 released on DVD. [Updated February 2008]
Q: What was the "Keep the Dream Alive" campaign? A: In 2004-05, fans of American Dreams started a huge campaign to NBC in hopes that they would renew the show. It began with sending postcards to the NBC presidents, and culminated in the purchase of an aerial banner that was flown over NBC Studios in Burbank, CA. It was seen by NBC presidents Kevin Reilly and Jeff Zucker, as well as NBC stars Brian Williams and Ellen Degeneres. Unfortunately, our favorite show was not renewed. You can read more about the campaign here.
